Origami Jungle Animals

Origami Jungle Animals

I made this model of a Safari Park for Art and Science Exhibition. Akash is in second standard. So I wanted to keep it visibly attractive as well as educative. So I decided to go for Origami Animals. All the animals are classified according to their food habits and habitat. The definitions of the scientific terms are written on card paper trees surrounding the model.

Origami Elephant :

Srishti is a big fan of Jonakashima's Origami Video. She made these elephants referring to www.youtube.com/watch?v=dr-bdoBgoq4

Origami Lion :

This is a very difficult lion. Srishti made this by watching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfhfHp-qrsw.

Origami Panda :
This panda is very easy to make. I got it from http://perfectpandas.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/purple-panda-origami.pdf This model looks cute if made from a small paper.

Origami Vulture :

I searched a lot for a vulture. Most of the models available on internet was too difficult for me.Finally got reference of John Montreal book http://books.google.co.in/books?id=t8FfpwXQP6IC&printsec=frontcover

Origami Penguin :
Origami Penguin
These penguins are very easy to make. When place in a group, makes a good scene. I got them from http://dev.origami.com/images_pdf/penguin_grebenicek.pdf. I didn't like the beak. So I made the beak from http://origami.island-three.net/penguin.html

Origami Fish :

Origami Rabbit :

Srishti made these cute rabbit family using www.instructables.com/id/Origami-Rabbit Don't miss the tiny baby in the center. Srishti is mad about making miniature craft. You really have to watch it through a magnifying glass.

Origami Zebra :
Origami Zebra
Srishti made these zebras from http://www.metacafe.com/watch/863030/origami_zebra I got this beautiful zebra pattern downloaded from http://www.joostlangeveldorigami.nl/patternzebra.html

Origami Frog :

This frog is the one school kids make as a jumping frog. Srishti made it for fun.

Origami Peacock and Origami Giraffe :

Akash had received "Origami in the Jungle" as a birthday gift. This origami kit contains printed pattern papers and  instructions to fold. Though very basic, we used the kit to make Giraffe, Peacock and the Monkeys. We stuck the monkeys on one of the trees.

Origami Snake :
The snake I made from http://www.origami-instructions.com/origami-snake.html

Origami Fir Tree :
The dark green fur tree idea I got it from http://www.squidoo.com/easy-crafts-for-christmas

No doubt, it was a time consuming project, but when I arranged the whole craft on this thermocol sheet, the project looked great. Obviously Akash was proud to carry it himself into the classroom.
